Forever my favorite number has been seven. Odd really as I have always loved the "safety" that even numbers provided. Rounded and safely paired, never alone. Who doesn't love an even number? So strange it is, I can not explain, but my fave number and the one that I have always been magnetically drawn to, has always been seven. Multiples of seven also sit really well with me, after all they are 7's "friends", trusty, dependable and loyal.
Aesthetically I love rounded shapes, curves, swirls and not points or sharp, hard corners. Should I not then love the number 8? With all it's lush roundness and infinite curve? But no, against all sensibility and going completely against all the shapes that I am drawn to, I cannot help but REALLY like 7!
As time has gone on, I have learnt more of life and mother nature, which has helped me to realize why I am strangely attracted to 7. Mother nature is a wonderful thing, often weaving her magic with geometry and sacred and reoccurring numbers. Just look at beehives, they are always hexagonal, with six even, geometric sides. No matter where you go, bees always work their hives with 6 sides. Snowflakes also form in divine, geometric, hexagonal, sacred shapes. Sacred is the number 6. So too is the number 7.
Mother nature has divine reoccurring themes of 7. The body has seven obvious parts, the head, chest, abdomen, two legs and two arms. The ruling part, the head, has seven parts for external use, two eyes, two ears, two nostrils and a mouth. The hand makes seven motions; up and down, to the right and left, before and behind, and circular. Modern medical knowledge corroborates the ancient dictum that in the seventh month the human offspring becomes viable. Menstruation tends to occur in a series of four X's seven days. The skin is renewed every 28 days (4 X 7) and hair is also said to undergo a seven year cycle.
Also, in various religions, 7 is sacred: The Tibetan Buddhists make their "Malas" or prayer beads in strings of multiples of 7. Either 21, 28 +. The 7th day is The Christian Sabbath (Saturday or Sunday depending on what day you consider the first day of the week, Monday or Sunday).
So having now witnessed the occurrence of 7 and often the re-occurrence in nature as well as in spirituality I realize why my 7 is so special. I no longer need to know why I am drawn to 7 or what makes it special, but am at peace just knowing that it is my number and always has been.
Many years ago Hollywood and Marilyn Munroe, bless her, made "The Seven Year Itch". A much loved movie about how after 7 years the excitement and love fades. Well blossom eco skin care, as of November 16th last year turned 7 and I can assure you that there is NO ITCH! Some may say that that is due to using our own blossom"SOS Balm", which granted, will take the ITCH outa almost anything! But actually, it is because I am as much in love with what blossom stands for now as I was 7 years ago. Really, that's not surprising, as 7 years ago blossom stood for all 7 things that were good in skin care: Organics, Purity, Honesty, Integrity, Lashings Of Love. No Flashy Packaging or Celebrity Models in Flashy Ads = No Bullshit basically! Guess what, that's EXACTLY what blossom stands for today! We may have started as 7 (Yes my favourite number, by coincedence) Baby Skin Care Products over 7 years ago. We may now be 27+ products but we still hold dear to our hearts the 7 core principles of 7 years ago, Organics, Purity, Honesty, Integrity, Lashings Of Love. No Flashy Packaging or Celebrity Models in Flashy Ads, (No Bullshit basically)!
So here, over 7 years later, I do still love the number 7 and I still love blossom and all it stands for and I truly hope that you do too!
PS: As blossom prepares to bid 7 farewell and say HELLO to turning 8 in November, we are busy getting together some great blossom birthday offers. Be sure to stay in touch and don't miss out on our birthday celebrations next month!
